🦔 Helping Hedgehogs at Raylands Park!
As autumn sets in and hedgehogs prepare for their winter hibernation, we’re proud to share an update on a very special project close to our hearts here at Raylands Park.
Hedgehog numbers in the UK have sadly dropped by around 50% in rural areas since 2000, and they are now officially classed as vulnerable to extinction. With threats from habitat loss, roads, and lack of safe nesting spaces, these iconic little mammals need our help more than ever. 🌍
That’s why, over the past few years, we’ve been working closely with a local hedgehog rescue centre to rehome and release hedgehogs right here on the Park. We’re delighted to say we’ve successfully welcomed many back into the wild — and they’re now happily exploring our gardens, hedgerows and green spaces. 🌿
Our incredible owners have played a huge role in this success — from building safe and cosy hedgehog homes to helping monitor the newcomers. Some have even spotted hedgehogs visiting their gardens at night! 🏡💚
Every small action makes a difference — whether it’s leaving a patch of garden wild, putting out fresh water, or simply checking for hedgehogs before using strimmers or lighting bonfires. It all helps create a safe haven for these much-loved animals. 🌾✨
A huge thank you to everyone who’s got involved so far. Together, we’re making Raylands Park a true refuge for wildlife — one hedgehog at a time.
